Location
Located just south of Sri Lanka and on the equator, the Maldives are made up of 1,190 coral islands, forming an archipelago of 26 major atolls. All of the islands are inhabited, however, 87 of them are considered exclusive resort islands.
Over the ages the Maldives have become a melting pot of cultures, with distinct African and South Asian influences as seen in the unique dances and music of the populations and the delicious seafood menus that have evolved.
Huvadu is one of the largest atolls in the world with numerous inhabited islands contained within its reef rim. Its location on the main sea route around southern India has brought it into regular contact with a diverse seafaring population and resulted in a region steeped in deep-rooted tradition and fascinating culture.
You will find Turtle Cove located on Mahadhdhoo on the Gafu Alifu atoll, a mere ninety minute boat plane transfer from Male (the principle island of the Maldives).
